Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a disorder that affects child development in two main areas. The first social communication & interaction and the second is measured and repetitive forms of behavior or interests. Although a child may have ASD since birth. But this can only be noticed if the social requirements go beyond the child’s limits. In today’s psychiatric world the approach about autism has now changed, as evidenced by the new guidelines by professionals. What used to be considered a major condition described as pervasive developmental disorders (autism, Asperger’s, disintegration disorder in children (CDD) and pervasive developmental disorders (PDD-NOS)) is now considered a disorder that occurs in a variety of symptoms and behaviors of different severity.

Social interaction and Communication: Signs of a less social interaction seen in a developing child in the form of affection such as hugs and shake. They show the lack of interest in building a relationship, sharing or seeing interesting objects.  Other warning signs in older children include difficulty maintaining a mutual conversation, lack of eye contact, and difficulty using and reading body language. These children may have difficulty recognizing the emotions of others, responding appropriately to different social situations, and understanding social relationships.

Some autistic children don’t speak some speak like a forced “robot” tone.  A child with autism can also repeat certain sentences without understanding their meaning or without what experts call “non-functional knowledge”: information that they can recite but cannot use to solve problems or for conversations, Autistic kids do not report objects interestingly, make eye contact or use gestures to communicate or describe a need. When autistic children grow and learn the language, their tone or language style can be strange or different from normal kids. Some experts describe it as bizarre behavior a child might have. High-performing children with autism can monopolize conversations while showing little mutual ability or understanding what the other wants or feels.

Controlled or repetitive actions: Key behavioral signs include the performance of repetitive actions and rituals and fixation on minute details to the point of distraction. Children with autism can be upset by the slightest change in daily routine. In young kids, signs of autism include ordering toys instead of playing with them. In older children, repetitive behavior can manifest as a consuming interest in a specific topic or object.

Autism Treatment

An organized instructive program and specific behavioral therapy treatment have been demonstrated the incentive approach for autism kids. ABA has been shown to help autistic children develop needed skills and minimize undesired behaviors such as self-injury, and it has been demonstrated to be fruitful for kids the whole way across the mental imbalance range, from mellow to serious. Occupational therapy, known as OT, is planned to help children obtain the skills needed to achieve the activities—or “occupations”—of routine life, including fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing skills, self-help skills and many more. To become more social, we need to create our emphasis on social stories as well, this theme is successfully adopted by many parents for their kids. An engaging or attractive story draws the social environment for kids to understand. These stories include pictures so kids can generate some experience about their feeling and expectation of this scene. In general medicines, there is no specific drug to cure the symptoms of autism but doctors often suggest some medication for the cure of depression, anxiety, and hyperactivity.
